Resolution Appointing Georgetown Mall Citizens Committee

Body

Whereas, The conditions at the Georgetown Mall have been deteriorating over the past several years;

Whereas, City staff have worked with the property owner to address issues with the condition of the property, particularly as they relate to blight, safety and security;

Whereas, Effective September 13, 2009, the Georgetown Mall property became completely vacant; and

Whereas, Neighbors around the Georgetown Mall are very concerned about the negative impacts of this site on their neighborhood given the current status of the property;

RESOLVED, That City Council create the Georgetown Mall Citizens Committee to provide input and assistance to City staff as the City monitors and assesses this property through its Nuisance Committee; and

RESOLVED, That the Georgetown Mall Citizen Committee will expire on October 1, 2010, and be eligible for renewal annually thereafter following review and approval by the Mayor and City Council.
