Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Firecracker 5K - Friday, July 4, 2014
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2014 from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. The following streets will be closed from 6:00 to 10:30 A.M.:
• Main Street from William to Liberty
• Liberty from Main to State
• William from Main to State
• State from Liberty to Monroe
• Monroe from State to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to Church
The sponsor, Champions for Charity, agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
This event is held concurrently with the Ann Arbor Jaycees 4th of July Parade, previously approved by Council on April 7, 2014. Notifications to impacted residents and businesses will be similar to the Parade which will include the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Champions for Charity website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City has received a request to approve the closing of certain streets for the Firecracker 5K on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.;
Whereas, The Sponsor, Champions for Charity, is requesting approval for the closing of the following streets from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.:
• Main Street from William to Liberty
• Liberty from Main to State
• William from Main to State
• State from Liberty to Monroe
• Monroe from State to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to Church
Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Champions for Charity website;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the following street closings from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 4, 2014:
• Main Street from William to Liberty
• Liberty from Main to State
• William from Main to State
• State from Liberty to Monroe
• Monroe from State to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to Church
