Resolution to Approve January 26, 2017 Recommendations of the Board of Insurance Administration

This resolution is submitted for City Council’s approval of Board of Insurance Administration recommendations at its meeting on January 26, 2017, which was held for the purpose of determining pending claims against the City, conducting other business and making recommendations to City Council.

Whereas, Recommendations of approval or denial of claims in excess of $5,000.00 by the Board of Insurance Administration are submitted to City Council for approval;
Whereas, Recommendations by the Board of Insurance Administration regarding contracts for insurance are submitted to City Council for approval;
Whereas, The Board of Insurance Administration recommends:
Denial of the following claim in excess of $5,000.00 considered at its meeting on January 26, 2017:
Ben Carbrey (The Church in Ann Arbor)
Date of Loss: 10/7/206
Type: Sewer Backup
Exposure: $5,014.00
Whereas, The Board of Insurance Administration recommends approval of the coverage and premiums in the insurance renewal policies effective March 1, 2017 as presented by the Hylant Group Inc., recognizing that it commits the city to a three year, non-cancellable, property insurance policy;
Whereas, The Board of Insurance Administration recommends that the City Treasurer be allowed to make a decision on an additional property insurance policy for the 650 S. Forest Street parking structure; and
Whereas, The cost of all of the policies is not to exceed $925,000.00 in the first year;
RESOLVED, That the Board of Insurance Administration’s recommended denial of the following claim in excess of $5,000.00 at its January 26, 2017 meeting be approved.

RESOLVED, That as recommended by the Board of Insurance Administration, the coverage and premiums in the insurance renewal policies effective March 1, 2017, as presented by the Hylant Group, Inc., be approved, recognizing that it commits the city to a three year, non-cancellable, property insurance policy, and allowing the City Treasurer to make a decision on an additional property insurance policy for the 650 S. RESOLVED, That payment of the premiums for the policies be authorized; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take the necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
