Title
Resolution to Amend Ann Arbor Fire Services Display Fireworks Policy
Memorandum
The Michigan Fireworks Safety Act allows the City Council, upon application in writing on forms provided by the State and payment of the fee set by City Council, if any, to grant a permit for display fireworks, for public or private display within the City subject to the compliance with the provisions of the Act.
On May 1, 2017, City Council adopted a Display Fireworks Policy (R-17-149). This amendment would clarify permit applicants must be all required as described in the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act (P.A. 256 of 2011) and add the requirement that applicant must notify adjacent residents and businesses of the date and time of the event a minimum of fourteen days prior to the event.
Approved of the amendment is recommended.
