Resolution to Award a Construction Contract to Michigan Joint Sealing for the Annual Overband Crack Sealing Bid No. 4236 - ($112,134.00)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to authorize one-year contract with Michigan Joint Sealing to perform Overband Crack Sealing on Major and Local streets throughout the city. The resolution also authorizes an option to extend the contract two additional one-year periods for a total of $336,402.00 over three years, with the same terms and conditions subject to the annual appropriation of funds in FY14 and FY15.
City staff advertised on BidNet and Michigan Joint Sealing was determined to be the lowest responsible bidder. The bid tab is attached.

Whereas, The Public Services Area, Field Operations Service Unit has available funds in the approved FY13 operations and maintenance budget for the purpose of crack sealing major and local streets;
Whereas, Bids were posted on BidNet and two companies provided bids;
Whereas, It was determined that Michigan Joint Sealing was the lowest responsible bidder; and
Whereas, Michigan Joint Sealing received Contract Compliance and Living Wage approval on August 23, 2012;
RESOLVED, That City Council approves a one-year contract, per ITB 4236, with Michigan Joint Sealing in the amount of $112,134.00 with an option to extend the contract for two additional one-year periods for a total of $336,402.00 subject to the annual appropriation of funds;
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said contract in accordance with this resolution; and
RESOLVED, That City Council authorize the City Administrator to take necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
