Title
Resolution to Approve a Purchase Order with CDW-G, LLC to Replace the Process and Information Control System Computers at the Wastewater Treatment Plant ($45,604.89)
Memorandum
You are requested to approve a purchase order with CDW-G, LLC in the amount of $45,604.89 to replace the Process and Information Control System (PICS) computers at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
The PICS enables plant staff to monitor and control treatment processes at workstations located throughout the WWTP, thereby ensuring efficient and effective treatment and compliance with the plant’s discharge permit requirements. The PICS is also used for remote monitoring of eight sewage lift stations located throughout the City to ensure ongoing reliable operation of these stations, and for receiving alarm notifications of any problems that require an immediate on-site response to avoid sewage overflows to basements or the environment. The existing PICS computers at the WWTP are over ten years old and operate on Windows 7, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation; the replacement computers will operate on Windows 10 as recommended by the City’s Information and Technology Services Unit (ITSU).
ITSU staff requested a quote from CDW-G, LLC for the purchase of 27 computers and monitors through the Michigan Master Computing-MiDEAL (071B6600110) cooperative agreement, which extended the pricing to the City.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funds for this purchase are included in the approved FY 21 WWTP Operation and Maintenance Budget for the Sewage Disposal System.
