How Established:
Council resolution approved August 7, 1981 - membership expansion resolution approved December 7, 1987.
Purpose:
To provide for public involvement in community park and recreation services and to provide advisory recommendations to the Superintendent of the Department of Parks and Recreation, City Administrator and Council regarding parks administration.
Special Qualifications for Appointment:
City resident, in the business of the Commission, professional expertise, public representation.
Length of Terms:
3 years - No person serving on this Commission continuously for 6 years shall be eligible to reappointment, until the lapse of 3 years. (City Charter, Section 5:17)
Meeting Times and Frequency:
This is a permanent Commission that meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. The meeting in City Council Chambers, 100 N. Fifth Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
Membership / Committee Composition:
8 voting members appointed by Council, 1 voting member appointed by the Recreation Advisory Committee, 2 Councilmembers (ex officio, non-voting), Parks and Recreation Services Unit Manager (ex officio, non-voting), and the Director of Recreation of the Ann Arbor Public Schools (ex officio, non-voting).
