How Established: The Building Board of Appeals is the "construction board of appeals" required by MCL 125.1514 (Stille-DeRossett-Hale Single State Construction Code) and defined by City Code section 9:104(1). Purpose: To hear appeals of decisions of the building official and grant variances from the state construction code. Qualifications: A member of the board of appeals shall be qualified by experience or training to perform the duties of members of the board of appeals. Length of Terms: 2 years. There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms a member may serve. Meeting Times / Frequency: This is a permanent Board that meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Membership / Committee Composition: Up to 7 members appointed by City Adminstrator.
