Historic District Commission
Established by Section 1:191, Chapter 8, Title I of the Ann Arbor City Code
Bylaws approved August 20, 2012 by R-12-391

Purpose
Regulate the construction, addition, alteration, repair, moving, excavation, and demolition of resources in historic districts within the city.

Special Qualifications for Appointment
The majority of the members shall have a clearly demonstrated interest in or knowledge of historic preservation.

Length of Terms
3 years

Meeting Times and Frequency

This is a permanent commission that meets 2nd Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting Location
301 E. Huron St., 2nd Floor in Council Chambers.

Membership / Committee Composition
7 members appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council.

At least two Commissioners shall be appointed from a list submitted by one or more local historic preservation organizations. If such a person is available for appointment, one Commissioner shall be a graduate of an accredited school of architecture who has two years of architectural experience or who is an architect registered in the State of Michigan.

If possible, one Commissioner shall meet the professional qualifications for history as defined by the Secretary of the Interior’s Historic Preservation Professional Qualifications Standards.
