How Established: Section 1:175, Chapter 8, Title I of the Ann Arbor City Code. Purpose: The Commission is responsible for adopting and maintaining the City Master Plan, and advising the City Council on matters relating to the future public and private development of the City. The Commission and Department must annually prepare a Capital Improvements Plan and submit it to City Council for consideration. Council may not amend zoning regulations until it has received a report and recommendation from the Planning Commission. Special Qualifications for Appointment: 1 must be a Councilmember (1 year term), 8 must have an interest in the growth and development of the City and be a city resident. Length of Terms: 1 for 1 year, 8 for 3 years - Terms begin on July 1st nearest day of appointment. Members may not continue after term expiration. Meeting Times and Frequency: This is a permanent Commission. Meeting schedule is as follows: Regular meetings - 1st and 3rd Tuesdays and Working meetings - 2nd Tuesday, of every month.
