Purpose
This Board is responsible for reviewing the activities, policies and administration of all Community Development housing programs. Included in the Board's responsibilities are hearing individual concerns/complaints and granting waivers of existing program guidelines. The Board may also periodically add to, amend or revise the criteria for waivers. These amendments require a 2/3 vote of the quorum in order to be adopted. Such amendments do not require prior consent from City Council and become effective as of the date of the Board's approval.
Special Qualifications for Appointment
City of Ann Arbor residents to represent low income, handicappers, minorities and women. Length of Terms: 2 or 3 years. The terms of all committee appointments shall be for either 2 or 3 calendar years from the beginning of the nearest CDBG fiscal year. In order to ensure continuity of decision making, the Mayor shall reappoint at least 2 members from the previous membership of each citizen committee.
Meeting Times & Frequency
This is a permanent Board that meets on an ad hoc basis. The Board will continue to exist for the duration of Community Development's housing program.
Membership / Committee Composition
7 Ann Arbor residents appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council for 2 or 3 year terms. Membership should include at least 2 members from the previous Board and representatives from the housing industry. (Architect, realtor, property manger), lower income individuals, handicapped individuals, minorities, women and a former recipient of city assistance. City staff shall serve as ex officio members.
