Housing Commission
Established by Section 1:209, Chapter 8, Title I of the Ann Arbor City Code
Bylaws approved on May 17, 2017 by Resolution
Purpose
The Ann Arbor Housing Commission seeks to provide desirable housing and related supportive services for low-income individuals and families on a transitional and permanent basis. AAHC will work in partnership with other housing and service providers to build healthy residential communities and promote an atmosphere of pride and responsibility.
Special Qualifications for Appointment
Concern for the well-being of people who cannot afford high rents.
Length of Terms
5 years
Terms end the first Monday in May in the year of expiration.
Meeting Times and Frequency
This is a permanent commission that meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
Meetings are held at AAHC's Administrative Office, 727 Miller Avenue.
The Commission also meets in working sessions and special meetings.
Membership / Committee Composition
Members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council.
5 Voting Members
One member must be a resident of public housing or a participant in the Section 8 program.
The Executive Director cannot serve as a member of the commission
Appointments are made so that no more than one appointment expires each year.
One Council Liaison and City Attorney Liaison are appointed each year
